Application of NA400 in Water Treatment

As the new sub-center of Nanjing's urban area, XX District has entered a period of rapid economic growth and urban development. However, along with this swift economic expansion, environmental issues in the district have become increasingly prominent. Currently, industrial wastewater from industrial parks and domestic sewage are largely discharged into water bodies without proper treatment, severely polluting surface water and groundwater systems, thereby affecting people's daily lives, health, and ultimately hindering the city's sustainable growth. At the same time, public demand for environmental protection continues to rise. Therefore, constructing a wastewater treatment plant has now become an urgent priority.
Overview
As the new sub-center of Nanjing, XX District has entered a period of rapid economic growth and urban development. However, along with this booming economy, environmental issues in the district have become increasingly prominent. Currently, industrial wastewater from the industrial park and domestic sewage are largely discharged into water bodies without proper treatment, severely contaminating both surface water and groundwater systems. This not only threatens people's daily lives and health but also poses significant constraints on the city's sustainable development. Meanwhile, public demand for environmental protection continues to rise. Therefore, constructing a wastewater treatment plant has now become an urgent priority.
According to the city plan, the XX Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed in two phases: Phase 1 with a capacity of 40,000 m³/d, and Phase 2 with 80,000 m³/d. The entire production area includes facilities such as coarse screens, a lift pump station, fine screens, a vortex grit chamber, biochemical tanks, sludge storage ponds, sludge dewatering rooms, blower rooms, drainage pump stations, and other ancillary buildings. Control System Design

This system uses the NA400 PLC as the core control unit, with a total of 6 sets: No. 1 Biochemical Pond, No. 2 Biochemical Pond, No. 3 Biochemical Pond, No. 4 Biochemical Pond, Blower Room, and Lift Pump Room. Each PLC set is equipped with a touch screen, and the NA400 comes with a built-in 485 port, enabling direct Modbus communication with the touch screens for convenient and cost-effective on-site operation.
Considering the considerable distance between control stations, fiber-optic transmission offers significantly higher network speeds and bandwidth compared to twisted-pair cabling. Moreover, fiber optics are immune to EMI, RFI, lightning strikes, and other forms of interference, making them fully compliant with industrial-grade requirements for both performance and reliability.
The NA400 series CPUs come equipped with Ethernet ports and, when paired with fiber optic switches, form a TCP/IP ring network, eliminating the need for separate communication modules while ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
The field control station communicates with the manufacturer-specific field control substations via a fieldbus, collecting real-time field data. It monitors and processes various production process parameters, such as water quality, flow rate, dissolved oxygen, and liquid level, as well as electrical parameters like current, voltage, power, and energy consumption. At the same time, it continuously tracks and controls the operational status of each piece of production equipment.
The NA400 series PLC is widely used across various industries, delivering reliable performance that meets diverse control requirements. As a domestically produced mid-sized PLC independently designed and developed, continuous improvements and refinements in its performance will undoubtedly enable it to replace foreign products in the near future, becoming a source of national pride for Chinese engineers and manufacturers.
