PLC performance requirements are high for governor control applications: the program scan cycle must be as low as 10 ms or less; the I/O closed-loop response time needs to be extremely short. Additionally, the frequency measurement resolution must be exceptionally precise—industry standards mandate a requirement below 0.003 Hz—and the system should feature either PWM output capability or high-precision analog control functionality.
