Thanks to the relentless efforts of the R&D team at Ruiyuan Wind Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the domestically produced PLC-based main control system unit—featuring Aoto Technology's involvement—in the Sinovel SL1500 project has been successfully connected to the grid at Datang New Energy’s Zhalute Wind Farm. This marks another significant breakthrough, following the successful grid connection and power generation of the 1.5 MW wind turbine units at Ningdong Wind Farm, a pioneering project spearheaded by China Huadian Group that replaced its wind power main control systems with fully self-reliant, domestically developed technology.

 

Hua Rui Wind Power's subsidiary, Ruiyuan Wind Energy Technology Co., Ltd., has actively responded to the nation's strategic emerging industry policies by proactively addressing and overcoming critical technological challenges that have long hindered progress in the new energy sector. As early as early 2019, the company initiated the design of a domestically produced PLC solution for the SL1500 model's main control system, along with the development of its core control software. In October 2020, the newly localized products from this series were officially unveiled at the Beijing International Wind Energy Conference, sparking widespread enthusiasm and strong resonance within the industry. By March 2021, the first domestically produced PLC-equipped wind turbine unit had successfully connected to the grid and begun operation. This remarkable achievement—realizing the localization of the wind turbine’s main control system in just two years—has paved the way for pioneering advancements in the domestic production and large-scale application of PLC-based control systems for megawatt-class wind turbines.

 

 

The technical challenges in localizing PLCs for large-scale wind turbine generators lie in the hardware's processing power, environmental adaptability, compatibility with underlying platforms, and the completeness of communication modules—factors that significantly hinder the adoption and widespread implementation of domestically produced PLCs in the wind energy sector.
