2021-05-31

On May 29, 2021, the domestically developed "Huadian RuiFeng," an independently controllable 6.2MW offshore wind power control system created by Guodian Nanzi, was successfully put into operation at the Huadian Fuzhou Haitan Strait Offshore Wind Power Project. This marks another significant breakthrough for the "Huadian RuiFeng" system—following its earlier success with a 1.5MW onshore wind turbine unit—this time in the realm of large-capacity offshore wind turbines. It also represents the first-ever application of a domestically produced wind power control system on an offshore wind turbine, signaling that China has achieved independent control over the core control systems used in its offshore wind farms.
The main control system for wind turbine units, built on domestically produced processors, has achieved localization of the core components previously reliant on foreign technology. Both the main control strategy and the pitch control strategy are now fully autonomous and controllable, effectively breaking down communication barriers between the main control system and external components—resulting in a more efficient control process. The system boasts faster response times, enhanced safety, and improved maintainability. Additionally, it integrates real-time monitoring, operation and maintenance management, fault diagnosis, wind power forecasting, and big data analytics into a single, seamless platform. This enables operators to instantly grasp the status of each unit, significantly boosting the utilization hours of wind turbines while simultaneously elevating the overall efficiency and management standards of wind farms.

Overall System Solution for 5MW+ Wind Turbine Main Control Systems
Wind energy, as a clean and renewable source of power, boasts enormous potential. In the main control systems of wind turbine generators, PLCs are a critical component—and in China, despite their massive market demand, these systems have long been dominated by foreign brands. However, national policies strongly advocate for localization and domestic production as the key drivers of industrial growth. To truly advance high-quality development of China's wind power sector, achieving full-scale localization of wind turbine generator technology is an essential path forward! The successful commissioning of "Huadian Ruifeng's" independently developed and fully controllable 6.2MW offshore wind turbine control system sets a powerful industry benchmark, laying a solid foundation for future demonstrations and widespread adoption.
To achieve the goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060, it is essential to establish a secure energy system. Only by addressing the critical "bottleneck" issues in key components, continuously pursuing breakthroughs, and fostering independent innovation can we truly support the steady, high-quality development of China's wind power sector!
