The core technology research project for building a safe and controllable urban rail transit BAS system based on self-developed PLCs has been successfully concluded.

On March 18, the project titled "Core Technology Research on Building a Safe and Controllable Urban Rail Transit BAS System Based on Independent PLC," undertaken by Qingdao Metro Group Co., Ltd., Aotuo Technology Co., Ltd., China Railway Second Institute Engineering Group Co., Ltd., Qingdao Tieke Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., and other organizations, successfully concluded with its final review meeting held in Qingdao, where it smoothly passed the expert panel's acceptance.

This final review meeting was organized by the Technical Equipment Committee of the China Urban Rail Transit Association, and an expert panel was invited, comprising industry specialists from Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hefei, Ningbo, Suzhou, Wuxi, and other cities.

After listening to the report, the expert panel inspected on-site the application of the domestically developed PLC. Drawing from the experience with Qingdao Metro Line 4, they engaged in an in-depth discussion on key issues such as the reliability of the indigenous PLC, its stress-testing performance, interoperability, and potential for wider adoption. The panel highly recognized the groundbreaking nature, innovation, and practicality of the domestically developed PLC in enabling a secure and controllable BAS system—a core technology for urban rail transit. Moreover, the experts emphasized that the successful implementation of this PLC in the urban rail sector carries significant strategic value in addressing critical technological bottlenecks.

Experts attending the meeting sequentially asked questions and provided comments on the reported achievements, ultimately reaching a consensus. The expert panel concluded that the project has successfully broken through the technical barriers in adapting PLCs to domestically produced hardware platforms and independent embedded real-time operating systems, achieving full localization of both the software and hardware components of the PLC control system, as well as enabling autonomous replacement of PLCs originally manufactured by foreign brands. The panel unanimously agreed that the "Core Technology Research Project for Building a Secure and Controllable Urban Rail Transit BAS System Based on an Independent PLC" has passed its final acceptance review.

The technological achievements from this research project will continue to be rolled out and applied in the BAS system of Qingdao Metro Line 6. Aoto Technology will deepen its independent and controllable research centered around rail transit BAS system controllers, continuously upgrading and iterating to align with the nation’s policy on self-reliance. In doing so, we aim to contribute our expertise toward making China’s comprehensive monitoring systems for the rail transit industry more autonomous, dependable, and secure.
