The Application of NA200 in Solar Thermal Collection Projects

With China's rapid economic development, people's quality of life continues to improve, leading to an ever-growing demand for energy. However, conventional energy sources are becoming increasingly scarce, and their prices are steadily rising. As a clean, pollution-free renewable energy source, solar energy is receiving growing attention, and solar thermal projects—thanks to their unique energy-saving and environmentally friendly advantages—are gaining wider recognition. Nanjing Aoto Technology Co., Ltd., leveraging its NA200 series PLCs, has successfully developed a specialized solar thermal control system tailored to a leading solar equipment manufacturer, achieving excellent practical results.

System Configuration
This solar thermal project utilizes the following products:
CPU Module: One CPU201-2402
Analog Input: AIM201-0401, 1 unit
Text Display: OP0401, 1 unit
Additionally, several other auxiliary components are included, such as water level detection devices, collectors, water tanks, brackets, and piping systems.
Process Introduction
(1) Manual water addition/heating/circulation
If the water tank level is too low, the water tank temperature is too low, or the temperature difference is too large, manual adjustments can be made by personnel; however, the automatic process will be halted during these adjustments.
(2) Automatic Constant Water Level Filling/Heating
The water tank automatically refills when the water level drops below the set constant level, and stops refilling when the water level reaches the set constant. If the tank temperature falls below the preset temperature, it automatically starts heating; however, if the temperature exceeds a certain range above the preset setting, heating will cease.
(3) A temperature-difference circulation is used between the collector and the water tank:
Under the condition that the water tank's water level is sufficient, the system sets the temperature difference between the collector and the water inside the tank on the text display. If this temperature difference exceeds the upper limit, the circulation pump starts; as the temperatures on both sides gradually approach the lower limit, the pump shuts off automatically, thereby enabling the automatic on/off operation of the circulation pump.
(4) Timed water tank filling/heating/circulation within the specified time period
Within the set time period, when the water tank level drops to the lower limit, water supply automatically starts until the tank level rises again; once the timed period ends, the water supply stops. Meanwhile, if the water tank temperature falls below the preset threshold during the same time period, heating automatically activates to raise the temperature; once the timer expires, heating ceases.
Within the designated time period, the collector and water tank automatically adjust their temperature difference via a circulating pump.
(5) Water Addition Fault Self-Check / Heating Fault Self-Check / Circulation Fault Self-Check
When the continuous addition of water, heating, or circulation has been running for an extended period, but there is no significant change in the water tank's level, temperature, or temperature difference, the system will automatically stop the water-addition process, heating process, or circulation process.
This system's process is primarily composed of the aspects outlined above. The NA200 series PLC comes equipped with a real-time clock (RTC) function, and the programming software NA200Pro can read the year, month, day, hour, minute, second, and even the day of the week. This enables the timer settings configured on the text display to synchronize precisely with the PLC, ensuring the entire process runs efficiently and in real time.
The solar thermal engineering control system, centered around the NA200 PLC and text display, is simple to operate, easy to use, and boasts a low failure rate, creating a healthy and comfortable living space for users. Solar energy engineering is undoubtedly set to embrace a bright future ahead.
