A comprehensive utility tunnel is essentially an underground urban pipeline corridor. It involves constructing a tunnel beneath the city to integrate various engineering pipelines—such as electricity, communications, gas, heating, and water supply and drainage—into a single system. The tunnel is equipped with dedicated access points for inspection and maintenance, lifting mechanisms, and advanced monitoring systems. Managed under unified planning, design, construction, and administration, it serves as a critical infrastructure and "lifeline" that ensures the smooth operation of the city.

System Status

The urban integrated utility tunnel monitoring and alarm system, due to relying on multiple systems with different functions—such as environmental and equipment monitoring, security protection, communication, early warning, and alarming—or because the products are supplied by different manufacturers, lacks a unified standard for data exchange. This results in numerous interfaces, poor accessibility, and easily leads to the formation of isolated "information silos."

The issue of information silos

Due to the lack of a unified technical framework and varying standards across different systems, compatibility and interoperability become challenging. As a result, it’s impossible to simultaneously meet the demands for image monitoring in areas such as disaster and accident early warning, as well as safety prevention.

Managing Security Issues

Using enterprises from sectors such as utilities, telecommunications, municipal services, electricity, gas, and police—many of which involve entry management—often face challenges like difficult coordination and communication, as well as overlapping operations. Additionally, there’s a lack of management for safe operational practices among entry personnel, inadequate staff positioning, and an overwhelming workload due to frequent inspections.

Equipment Management Issues

The utility tunnel is a large, comprehensive system containing a wide variety of equipment from different suppliers, which poses significant challenges for managing tasks such as maintenance and the procurement of spare parts in the future.

Transmission Network:

Fiber-optic backbone ring network (dual rings) + fiber-optic access ring network (dual rings)

Data Storage:

Hierarchical storage system (with regional NVRs installed in the ACU cabinets of each distribution substation, and a core NVR set up at the monitoring center, ensuring dual redundancy)

Transmission process:

Each ACU controller set in every monitoring zone uploads sub-system data to the substation Gigabit switch, which is connected via a Gigabit ring network to the monitoring center switch for communication. Video data and monitoring data are transmitted separately.

Network Management:

Set up a network management server for unified monitoring of network devices, and configure a firewall for external network connections.
