Xi'an Electric Furnace Research and Heating Platform signs strategic framework agreement with Aoto Technology for the joint development of a domestic PLC product R&D base.

On May 20, 2022, Xi'an Electric Furnace Research Institute Co., Ltd.'s Industrial Heating Platform signed a strategic framework agreement with Aoto Technology Co., Ltd. to jointly establish a domestic PLC product R&D base. Guided by national strategies and market demands, this R&D base will leverage Aoto's PLC products, addressing the practical needs of the industrial heating market. It will focus on conducting cutting-edge research into key technologies for "electric furnace and industrial furnace automation systems," as well as developing related products. The goal is to achieve modular PLC design, R&D, and market application for core automation products in the industrial heating industry, ultimately aiming to gradually replace foreign PLC products and realize the localization and independent control of these critical components. Additionally, both parties agreed to jointly build a fully domestically produced PLC laboratory in Xi'an, providing a dedicated space for technicians to develop, conduct research, and perform system debugging.

As the core component of industrial automation and a critical device in industrial control networks, PLCs—especially in terms of control system security—have become deeply embedded in various sectors of the national economy. Notably, PLCs play a pivotal role in areas such as national defense, industrial production process control, and vital infrastructure systems, serving as the backbone for core operational functions. Promoting the widespread adoption of domestically produced, independent, and controllable PLCs is directly tied to national security. The "Made in China 2025" initiative and the "Announcement on Issuing the Catalogue of Key Network Equipment and Cybersecurity Dedicated Products (First Batch)" have already set forth clear domestication requirements. Looking ahead, the successful development and application of domestically produced PLC products in the industrial heating sector will mark another solid step forward in China's manufacturing industry as it tackles numerous "bottleneck" challenges.
