Recently, The testing platform for the Line 4 Environmental and Equipment Monitoring System has been successfully set up and has been running smoothly after testing.

Environmental and Equipment Monitoring System (commonly referred to as BAS primarily automates the monitoring, control, and scientific management of mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation and air conditioning, water supply and drainage, lighting, and escalators within subway stations and tunnel sections. This ensures a comfortable, safe, and reliable travel environment for passengers and operational staff, while also enabling emergency fire-fighting and disaster relief operations when necessary.

The environmental and equipment monitoring system is primarily composed of a programmable logic controller (commonly referred to as Composed of a PLC, simply put, the PLC is essentially an industrial "brain"! If we draw a parallel with the human body, the PLC functions much like our brain—storing vast amounts of knowledge and enabling automatic control of the station's BAS system through logical programming. Historically, PLC controller devices have largely been monopolized by foreign brands. However, the various challenges associated with relying on foreign PLCs are gradually surfacing: first, there’s the lack of guaranteed information security; second, supply-chain vulnerabilities pose significant, yet often overlooked, risks to the safe operation and maintenance of subway systems. Therefore, promoting the localization of core PLC equipment aligns perfectly with national policies—and more importantly, it has become an inevitable trend.

Qingdao Metro Group leverages its comprehensive strengths, aiming to enhance the localization rate of metro equipment and lead the development of cutting-edge industry technologies, while taking the lead in organizing and implementing initiatives based on self-reliance and domestic production. Research on Building a Safe and Controllable Metro BAS System Using PLCs. This study has received strong support from the China Urban Rail Transit Association and has been designated as a "Key Technology Challenge Project for Urban Rail Equipment," with a formal task agreement signed. The project will leverage Qingdao Metro Line 4, pioneering the use of a series of PLC products independently developed and manufactured by Aotuo Technology Co., Ltd., which boast complete independent intellectual property rights. Together, these innovations will create a domestically produced, self-reliant, and fully controllable technical solution for urban rail transit BAS systems, breaking through the critical bottleneck of heavy reliance on foreign core controller products.

 

Testing Platform for Environmental Equipment and Monitoring System Based on Domestically Produced PLCs (Real-Scene Filming)

To ensure the timely opening of Qingdao Metro Line 4, Qingdao Metro's First Construction Branch, together with Hisense Network Technology Co., Ltd. and Aoto Technology Co., Ltd., has been proactively setting up a testing platform tailored to the metro's operational environment since October 2021. This initiative has laid a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of the BAS system equipment's individual and integrated commissioning work on Line 4. Moving forward, rigorous tests will also be conducted under challenging conditions—such as high temperature, high humidity, and heavy dust—to simulate real-world scenarios in advance, thereby providing robust assurance for the high-quality launch of Qingdao Metro Line 4.
