From June 26 to 29, the National Engineering Center for Water Resources Utilization and Safety at Hohai University organized a team of experts to visit and conduct research at Xinjiang Xinhua Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd. Accompanied by Ma Yong, Chief Engineer of Xinjiang Xinhua Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd., and Yin Haihua, Manager of the Construction Management Center, the expert group inspected and studied several key projects in Xinjiang Xinhua's southern Xinjiang region, including the Xiaoshankou First- and Second-Stage Hydropower Stations and the Hamo Dun Hydropower Station under the Bazhou Business Division; the photovoltaic base and hydropower stations operated by Altash Company in Kashgar Region, as well as the Zangao and Chamusa Hydropower Companies; and the Bobona Hydropower Station managed by the Hotan Business Division.

On June 30, an exchange meeting was held at Xinjiang Xinhua Headquarters, where both parties discussed collaborative efforts in areas such as scientific research and technology development, the summarization and promotion of technological achievements, and talent training and exchange programs. Zhang Baohu, Party Secretary and Chairman of Xinjiang Xinhua Hydropower Investment Co., Ltd.; Zhang Anfu and Peng Chong, Deputy General Managers; Zhang Yibo, Secretary of the Commission on Discipline Inspection; and Jin Zhiqiang, along with other leaders, attended the meeting. Additionally, Wang Li from the Planning Department, as well as department heads Ma Mengmeng and Jia Yuyi from the Construction Management Center, participated in the discussion.

At the symposium, Jin Zhiqiang, an expert from XinHua Company, presented technical challenges and research advancements related to sediment-laden rivers—specifically, issues such as reservoir siltation damage, wear on hydropower turbines, smart operation and maintenance of hydropower stations, domestic self-reliance and controllability in hydropower projects, and complementary hydropower-wind-solar generation systems that urgently need solutions. Zhang Anfu, Deputy General Manager, discussed engineering protection measures and safe operational practices for hydropower stations situated along rivers with high sediment loads. Meanwhile, Peng Chong, Deputy General Manager, provided updates on progress in digital transformation and smart construction sites. Dr. Wang Shanyong, Deputy General Manager of Aotuo Technology, highlighted the company’s advancements in self-reliant and controllable research for projects spanning hydropower, pumped storage, wind power, and concentrated solar power. Notably, Aotuo Technology’s independently developed medium- to large-scale PLC products have already been successfully applied in domesticating computer monitoring systems for massive 800-MW hydro turbines and 300-MW pumped-storage units. Additionally, these technologies are being demonstrated in pilot applications across wind power and solar thermal projects, showcasing Aotuo’s commitment to innovation and localization.

Finally, Zhang Baohu, Secretary and Chairman of Xinjiang Xinhua, concluded that autonomy, controllability, and safety are the red lines, bottom lines, and lifelines of China National Nuclear Corporation. He succinctly outlined the pressing technical challenges that need to be addressed in areas such as the safe operation of new energy systems and digital transformation, and suggested tackling these issues incrementally—starting with specific points—to develop comprehensive, interconnected solutions. This approach will help ensure the safe operation of China National Nuclear Xinjiang Xinhua in the power industry.
