As coal-mining equipment and mining techniques continue to improve, and raw coal production steadily increases, belt conveyor systems have become indispensable in coal mine operations. In essence, the performance and reliability of a belt conveyor control system directly determine both the coal mine's production capacity and its level of automation.

Belt conveyors typically use variable-frequency control, and the system is mainly divided into five key components: the PLC control section, the variable-frequency drive section, the automatic tensioning section, the belt conveyor protection section, and the higher-level monitoring section.

The PLC control section serves as the system's core, handling logic operations and coordinated control. The variable-frequency drive section enables soft start/stop of the motor and adjusts its speed, ensuring smooth operation while optimizing energy efficiency and reducing consumption. Meanwhile, the automatic tensioning system dynamically adjusts belt tension in real time, guaranteeing reliable power transmission. Additionally, the conveyor protection system employs various sensors to continuously monitor for faults such as belt misalignment, slippage, tearing, and overheating, triggering immediate emergency shutdowns when necessary. Finally, the higher-level monitoring system provides a user-friendly human-machine interface, allowing centralized display of equipment status, setting of process parameters, recording of historical data, and issuing control commands—thus enabling the automated and intelligent operation of the entire conveying system.
